Training through the SCID Institute is conveniently offered online and in-person by SCID author, Dr. Rhonda S. Karg, and from our seasoned SCID Experts.
Online Training: This training includes 20+ hours of a web-based training course and up to 20 hours of live online training from Dr. Rhonda Karg and our SCID Experts. The online training combines lecture with digitally-rendered clinical cases where we demonstrate how to administer and score the SCID. The practice exercises are drawn from a large library of scripts for a SCID Expert to play the role of a study participant while they are interviewed by the clinical interviewer (CI). Our practice exercises also include inter-rater reliability exercise that identify CIs who need additional help with their SCID skills. During these practice exercises, the CI is given detailed feedback on their performance and provided with retraining for any area they need additional help learning. The CI and their supervisor at your company will receive an email notification when the CI completes their training course. After the training is completed, a time for a certification interview will be scheduled with an expert at SCID institute playing the part of a participant in your study. The CI will have up to three attempts to pass their certification interview. In order to pass our certification, the CI will also have one attempt to pass a 25-item certification test with a score of 80% correct or higher. The CI and their supervisor at your company will receive an email notification when the CI passes certification or re-certification. Our online training includes unlimited access to our large library of practice exercises that can be completed by the CI trainees anytime.
This training will be provided by SCID author, Dr. Rhonda Karg, who will be accompanied by 2-3 SCID Experts. This training includes live lectures and video recorded material, along with several supervised practice exercises with detailed feedback on the CI’s skills in SCID interviewing and rating/coding the symptoms. The practice exercises include a large library of scripts for a SCID expert to play the role of a study participant while they are interviewed by the clinical interviewer (CI). At SCID Institute, the training program we design for you will be tailor-made for you, but generally we suggest a 40+-hr training and supervision combination for most clinical interviewers, along with requiring them to pass the certification SCID interview and the 25-item SCID Quiz.
